Not all of these horror movies line up with the critical consensus, yet they have one thing in common they have made the heart of the writer beat faster with excitement.
When Animals Attack The 70 Best Horror Movies with Killer Animals edition by Vanessa Morgan Humor Entertainment eBooks
When Animals Attack is a collection of 70 films all about every creature known to man running amok, turning homicidal, and unleashing mayhem on unsuspecting citizens, and not stone is left unturned, some of the movies you may recognize right away as they were box-office smashes, others not as much for a variety of reasons Some of the highlighted films go back to the 50s and some have ended up becoming cult classics.Along with each film there is a theatrical poster and a writer's dissertation, which really lets you in the mind of the viewer. Some of these essays may convince you to want to check out a few of the sleeper hits for yourself; whether or not all of them are locatable for home viewing is uncertain. In addition to the offbeat, entertaining angle taken with the writers' personal bios, their social media and blog info enables intrigued readers to discover further reading.
All the horror in these movies is not the formulaic type of horror in which the villainous creatures go for the kill; as you delve deeper you'll find that there is the psychological approach taken as well, such as the case with Alfred Hitchcocks's "Birds" which I know I've caught more than once shown on the local network back in the day. Oh yes, "Ants" is also mentioned too, I have a vague recollection of getting a glimpse of that one as well and don't think I reacted favorably to it back then. (But I digress...)
All in all, there is surprisingly good scary animal lore to be found in this treasure trove...I, like the author, am very fond of animals per se and have been able to see and think about different perspectives such as ecological damage, the way animals are hunted for sport or treated otherwise unfairly by humans, among other issues. It is very much recommended!

When Animals Attack The 70 Best Horror Movies with Killer Animals edition by Vanessa Morgan Humor Entertainment eBooks Reviews
I’ll admit that animals gone wild is one of my favorite horror movie sub-genres. There aren’t enough of these movies nowadays if you ask me. So, I was delighted to discover When Animals Attack and dig into it. Ants, frogs, sheep, slugs, snakes, sharks,… they’re all in here. It’s a dangerous world out there!
The book starts with an introduction to the genre and a look at the roots of this fear of nature turning against mankind. We’re used to being top of the food chain. To have that not be the case is a frightening prospect. Following on from the introduction, it’s an alphabetical run through of 70 creature features from the amazing Alligator (1980) to Zoltan Hound of Dracula (1978).
Each film is covered in an essay by someone in the horror business – a writer, critic, or filmmaker. The essays are very personal, aside from discussing the plot and technical aspects. They describe the impact that movie had on the individual viewer. Horror really is subjective. The exact way that each film affects the viewer can have as much to do with where you are in life as the plot of the film itself. The passion for each movie comes through strongly and makes it engaging to read. Each review begins with the movie poster or in some cases, the really killer VHS cover art. I like this approach better than a best of list.
The movies that had the most impact on me growing up (and that I recommend you watch right away) are Alligator (1980), Arachnophobia (1990), Slugs (1988), The Swarm (1978) and Ticks (1993).
In When Animals Attack, you’ll find a nice spread of titles. These include critically acclaimed movies like Jaws to the slightly less acclaimed Jersey Shore Shark Attack. This book is a good introduction to some great, or at least so bad they’re good movies. Check it out.
Took my back to my youth when I read the reviews of old movies. Very well done. I laughed a lot with the comments because they were humorous. This book is extremely well done, easy to read, and as Vanessa states, "The movies made the authors' hearts beat!" GOOD JOB!!!!
There are some really good reviews of these classic movies. The best one is the review of "Ants" from 1977. I might be a little favored though since it is written by my son!!!!
When Animals Attack is a collection of in-depth essays written about horror movies with animals. I had seen some of the movies chosen by the book's editor such as Jaws, Anaconda, Arachnophobia, Cujo, Lake Placid, and Snakes on a Plane. Most of the movies I had not seen. There was a surge of essays written about sharks that didn't sound too interesting. I wasn't a fan of Jaws.
Some of the movies that are now on my 'must-see' list include Bryan Schuessler's essay on Pig Hunt. He compares the movie to Razorback. It's about a group of young people who go hunting for wild pigs. It has won several awards. Another movie that sounds intriguing is David Royce's essay on the movie Willard. It's about a man who gets pushed around his whole life and then gets his revenge with the help of some rats. J. Luis Rivera's White Dog is a movie about how dogs are trained to attack African Americans. This movie sounds both horrifying and thought-provoking about racism in America.
My Review I recommend this book to all horror movie lovers. It was a quick, fun read that makes me want to go to the video rental store. The writing was great as were the movies that were highlighted. 5/5 Stars.
