Is there a vol II?
The novel is a masterpiece. It wouldn't hurt to have an indexed table of contents, just to help navigate the books and chapters...
To another time and place. So beautifully written and translated. The characters so compelling. Thank god i was pointed toward this book by a friend.
Only Books I-VII were downloaded
Book VIII is missing
I think should take quality more seriously, rather than rely on spin.
I love being able to get classics online and many times for free. We haven't read much of it yet but are enjoying what we have read.
An important novel and not a difficult one;
but, perhaps by design, it lacks drama
and compelling characters. Feels a bit like a Watteau picture or a Mozart opera. Very artificial, not much at stake. But good passages full of wisdom and insight.
